In Latin means “discomfort” along the back of the leg” Sciatica is referred pain often caused by squashing the sciatic nerve in the base of the back. The sciatic nerve runs from the bottom of the back down through the buttocks and along the rear of each leg. Sciatica is discomfort travelling this nerve and is a relatively common form of back discomfort and is usually caused by stress on the sciatic nerve from a herniated or bulging disc. The discomfort from sciatica can be anything from infrequent and irritating to extreme and debilitating.
Usually, it effects only one side, the pain radiating down the buttock and down the leg and is often associated with a constant pain on one side of the buttocks, pain in the leg and/or buttock that may become worse when seated. Other sensations are a heat or pins and needles down the leg, weakness, numbness or difficulty using the leg or foot or a shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up.
While sciatica can be very painful and uncomfortable, it is rare that permanent nerve harm (tissue injury) results. Most pain is due to swelling and will reduce within a span of time. Nerve discomfort is due to a combination of compaction and swelling on the nerve base, and treatment is focused on allieviating both of these conditions. Back pain is extremelly uncomfortable and this amazing technique helps relieve the pain and get people back to their normal existence.
